Bio: Born in the year 1 BC, Simon bar Jonah (son of Jonah) was a Jewish fisherman in Bethsaida which translates to "House of Fishing". In the year 28 AD,  Simon's brother, Andrew, brought him to a man named Jesus, when Jesus saw Simon he said, "So you are Simon the son of Jonah? You shall be called Cephas" which translates to Peter in English. And on that day, Peter joined the ministry of Jesus Christ, Son of the Living and One True God. So after Jesus ministry was ended by his crucifixion and being raised again from the dead, Peter, James the Just, and John the Apostle were considered the three pillars of the Early Church. And after Jesus' Ascension into Heaven, Peter assumed into power of leading the church and became our first Pope. But, in 44 AD, Peter was arrested on Passover and King Herod Agrippa wanted to publicly execute him but an angel awoke Peter in his cell, broke the chains on his hands, and led him out of the city gates. But, roughly 20 years later, he was captured again but by Roman Emperor Nero and this time, they did publicly execute him. They crucified him but not in the normal way, he asked to be crucified upside down because he didn't believe he was worthy to be killed the same way as his Lord. And in the same place he was killed, we have our Vatican City, where we honored him with St. Peter's Basilica.

St. Peter, Pray for Us!
